Remembrance Vigil For Dogs & Cats Killed At ACS

By Animal Advocates (other events)

Saturday, January 27 2024 6:00 PM 7:30 PM CDT

ABOUT ABOUT

In 2024 San Antonio Animal "Care" Services killed 5000 helpless of dogs and cats because it was an "easier" option than finding them loving homes. This is unacceptable. ACS receives tax payer money in order to serve the function of adequately supporting the community to control the dog and cat population in a responsible, ethical AND transparent way.

ACS is failing to fulfill it's purpose and we must hold the agency, the director, and city council accountable for their negligence.

REMEMBERING THE DOGS & CATS ACS KILLED IN 2023

2024 is the year that we come together to change how this city manages the stray animal problem and how it handles animals within its facility. We must show our city's policy makers that we don't agree with their current practices, because we are the only voice that these animals have.

JOIN US FOR A NIGHT OF REMEMBRANCE

Animal lovers are invited to stand vigil in memory of the cats and dogs mercilessly ethanized by Animal Care Services in 2023. As one community, lets unite and show that we do not support the cruelty and neglience that these animals suffered prior to being killed.

The loss of every single animal was a great loss to our community and deeply marred our trust in ACS. However, unlike ACS, we believe that their deaths were senseless, unwarranted and cruel. On Saturday January 27th, their passing will be marked by a community gathering, featuring a selection of songs performed by a classical singer and candles lit in memorium. For all in attendance, after the event, off-site refreshments will be provided by Hash Vegan Eats located at 5007 S. Flores Street.

All members of the community are invited, so register for the event, spread the word and bring a friend! The park is dog friendly, and so is this event, so bring a pup along too.
